July 4-5: 8 South LA shootings in 6 hours

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that between the hours of 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night and 2:20 a.m. Thursday morning, the LAPD responded to eight shootings, two of which were homicides.

Most are believed to be gang-related.

July 4, just before 9 p.m.: Police arrived to the 1300 block of East 48th Place and found a 32-year-old woman with a gunshot wound in her foot.

July 4, around 10:30 p.m.: A white SUV drove by a residence on the 4800 block of 2nd Avenue, opened fire and killed a man in his 20s. Four others were hospitalized and are stable.

July 4, shortly before midnight: Two suspects confronted a man and fired a gun several times on the 700 block of 76th Place. The victim was hospitalized and stabilized.

July 5, around 1:30 a.m.: Three men approached a 37-year-old man on the 600 block of West 94th Street, asked him where he was from, then shot him in the leg when he tried to run.

July 5, around 1:50 a.m.: Police responded to a call at the intersection of 85th Street and Halldale Avenue to find a 36-year-old man shot in the buttocks. He was hospitalized, stabilized and uncooperative.

July 5, around 2 a.m.: Police were called to the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, where an 18-year-old man was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He died at a hospital.

July 5, around 2:15 a.m.: A man stepping off a bus near Florence and Western avenues was shot several times. He's in stable condition.

July 5, around 2:20 a.m.: A man watching a fireworks show was shot in the back near Manchester Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue and hospitalized with a non-life-threatening injury.
