A shooting that appeared to be gang-related injured three on Saturday morning in front of Aguilar Barbershop, according to police.
The call came in a little after 10 a.m. for the barbershop located near the intersection of Central Avenue and 46th Street, said Sergeant Paul Sanfillippo of the LAPD's Newton Division.
"It wasn't a drive-by," said Sanfillippo of Newton Division. "We're calling it an assault with a deadly weapon. Two victims and a suspect got in a verbal confrontation and the suspect withdrew a handgun and fired at the two victims." He hit both, and a third victim inside the barbershop was hit "by a stray round."
Sanfillippo said a second shooter then emerged from the barbershop, shooting at the first shooter.
All three victims are in stable condition, and both suspects are still at large. Sanfillippo said the only information police have is that both are Latino males.
"It appears it was gang-related," he said, adding that Newton's gang unit is out seeking more information on the shooting and is working with the mayor's office.
